Abstract :
Background: Elderly shows physical characteristics such as gray hair, skin wrinkles, and loss of teeth. Cognitive function is the ability of attention, memory, judgment, problem solving, and executive abilities. Social activity is one of the daily activities carried out by the elderly. The impact of the elderly living in the nursing home lack of activity, both physical activity and cognitive activity when compared to the elderly who live in the family because social activities at the institution have been scheduled by the officer compared with the elderly who live in the family.
Objective: to know the description of cognitive function and social activities in the elderly at Posyandu Merpati Talang Betutu.
Methods: This type of research uses quantitative descriptive methods.
Results: Disorders of cognitive function of the elderly in the normal category or no cognitive impairment (24-30) were 22 respondents 52.4% and elderly social activities in the moderate category (39-57) were 30 respondents 71.4%. Suggestion: it is expected to know and provide information for the elderly to maintain optimal cognitive function by explaining the importance of carrying out social activities in daily life.
