Abstract :
Background: Fluid requirements are the basic human needs that have a large proportion in the human body to maintain the fluid balance, so the fluid intake and output of the body must be close to balance. Individuals who do not meet the needs of bodily fluids can cause fluid deficiency. A human body that lacks water will make the fluid in the backbone unfulfilled. Lack of fluid in the spine causes back pain. Objective: This study aims to determine the correlation between the fluid adequacy and the back pain occurrence of workers at Trabaz Printing Palembang. Method: This study used an analytical survey method with time-series design which involved 20 respondents as the sample. Results: The results of this study indicate that the age of most respondents is young adults 16 respondents (80%) and intermediate adults 4 respondents (20%). The number of respondents that graduated from the Senior High School or the Vocational High School was 11 (55%) and other respondents were elementary school graduate 1 (5%) and diploma graduate 1 (5%). The water consumption of 11 (55%) of respondents was less meanwhile the water consumption of the other 9 (45%) of respondents was sufficient. For back pain, 9 (45%) of respondents in no pain category, 6 (30%) in the mild pain category, and 5 (25%) in the moderate category. The results of the Kendall's Tau test showed that there is a very strong negative correlation between the fluid adequacy and the back pain occurence (? = -0,876; p < 0,001). Everyone must fulfill their fluid needs to prevent back pain.
