Abstract :
Background: Covid-19 is a virus that causes respiratory disease, caused by SARS-CoV2 so it is necessary to implement health protocols such as using masks, washing hands, keeping a distance to prevent covid-19 (Pinasti, 2020). The data for 2021 stated that there were 35 mentally retarded people who were confirmed to be positive for COVID-19 without symptoms at the Tri Asih Foundation for intellectual disability, West Jakarta. Supported by information from AIDRAN, mentally retarded people refuse to wear masks and follow health protocols. So good knowledge and a positive attitude are needed in implementing the COVID-19 health protocol. Objective: To know the description of the knowledge and attitude of mild mentally retarded in implementing the Covid-19 health protocol at SLB-B Pembina Palembang. Methods: This type of research is quantitative with descriptive research methods, using a total sampling technique of 41 respondents, data collection using questionnaires analyzed univariately. Results: The results of the study were that the average age of the respondents was 17 years, male gender (63.4%) and junior high school education level (51.2%). The amount of good knowledge is (92.7%), and positive attitude is (95.1%). In conclusion, the knowledge of mild mental retardation is good and the attitude of mild mental retardation is positive in implementing the covid-19 health protocol. Suggestion: The results of this study are expected for mentally retarded children to maintain their knowledge and attitude in implementing the Covid-19 health protocol in order to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 infection.
