This disease causes joint pain which is quite disturbing the activities of the elderly. It is recommended to modify pain management so that it is not dependent on pain medications that have side effects. For this reason, ergonomic exercises and red ginger compresses to reduce pain
Objective : This study aims to determine the effect of ergonomic exercise and red ginger compresses on joint pain in the elderly with rheumatoid arthritis at the Indralaya Elderly Social Institution.
Methods : This type of research is quantitative with the Pretest-Posttest With Control Group method. A sample of 40 respondents (20 interventions and 20 controls) was taken using the Simple Random Sampling technique. The intervention was carried out for 2 weeks. The data were tested with Linear Regression and Paired Samples T-test with sig. <0.05.
Result : The difference between the post-test of the intervention group and the post-test of the control group (F = 1,449 ; t = -5.485 ; p-value = 0,000 <0,05). Test the effect of the intervention with a value of (? = 1.700 ; p-value = 0,016 ; OR = 0,677 ; R2 = 0,442).
Conclusion : There are differences in joint pain post-test in the intervention group and post-test in the control group and the effect of ergonomic exercise and red ginger compresses on joint pain in the elderly at the Indralaya Elderly Social Institution.
Suggestion : For further researchers, it is recommended to conduct research by modifying exercise interventions with other non-pharmacological methods or modifying appropriate exercise for the elderly.
