Abstract :
Objective: To find out the difference in the results of platelet examination in blood that was delayed 8 and 15 minutes after primary homogenization
Methods: This type of research is a pre-experimental study with Static Group Comparison. Blood was examined using the Sysmex KX-21 instrument with the Impedance method. The research was conducted at the UKMC Fikes Laboratory. The samples used in this study were UKMC students who were taken by total sampling. Data were analyzed using Paired T test.
Results: On examination of the platelet count allowed to stand for 8 minutes the average result was 236.8 x 10³/µL, on examination the platelets were left for 15 minutes the average result was 151.6 x 10³/µL. The test results showed a significant difference in the number of blood platelets that were allowed to stand for 8 and 15 minutes after primary homogenization with = 0.000 (<0.05).
Conclusion: Based on this research, it can be concluded that in the examination of platelets there are differences in the results of the examination of platelets in the blood that was allowed to stand for 8 and 15 minutes after primary homogenization.
Suggestion: In future studies, it is recommended that the sample be examined immediately, allowed to stand for 2 minutes and 5 minutes after primary homogenization. Blood that is allowed to stand for more than 10 minutes at the time of examination must be subjected to secondary homogenization
