Abstract :
One of the hematological examinations is the examination of the number of erythrocytes. Factors that affect the number of erythrocytes are homogenization. There are 2 kinds of homogenization; manual homogenization and automatic homogenization. Objective : To find out the difference in the results of the examination of the number of erythrocytes which were homogenized by the inversion technique 10 times with automatic 1 minute and 2 minutes. Methods : This research is pre-experimental with static group comparison research design. The research subjects used were 32 TLM students. Blood samples were collected or collected in 3 tubes of EDTA anticoagulant, then the samples were primary homogenized 5 times and left for 5 minutes. Each blood sample was then subjected to manual secondary homogenization inversion 10 times, automatic homogenization 1 minute and 2 minutes. Results : 10 times manual inversion of homogenization technique have mean value of erythrocytes results; 4,73x106/µl, 1 minute automatic rolling technique homogenization have mean value of erythrocytes results; 4,82x106/µl, and 2-minutes automatic rolling technique homogenization has a mean value of erythrocytes results; 4,82x106/µl. The data in the normality test was normally distributed, then continued with repeated ANOVA test with the p value of manual 10 times inversion homogenization to 1 minute automatic homogenization; 0.039<0.05 which means there is a difference, p value of manual 10 times inversion homogenization for 2 minutes automatic homogenization; 0.029<0.05 which also means there is a difference, and the p value of 1 minute automatic homogenization to 2 minutes automatic homogenization; 1,000>0.05 which means there is no difference. Conclusion : There are differences in the results of the examination of the number of erythrocytes which are homogenized by the inversion technique 10 times with automatic 1 minute and 2 minutes and there is no difference in the results of the examination of the number of erythrocytes which are homogenized automatically for 1 minute and 2 minutes. Suggestion : For the automatic method, it is suggested to speed up the homogenization time to 30 seconds.
