Abstract :
This study aims to determine the difference in returns of the transportation, telecommunications, hotel, restaurant, and tourism and pharmaceutical industry sub-sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange before and during the pandemic with the research period from July 2018 to October 2021. The data used are secondary data. The population in this study are all sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The samples used in this study are the transportation sub-sector, the telecommunications sub-sector, the hotel, restaurant, and tourism sub-sector, and the pharmaceutical sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling and obtained 79 consisting of 36 companies in the transportation sub-sector, 13 companies in the telecommunications sub-sector, 22 companies in the hotel, restaurant and tourism sub-sector, and 8 companies in the pharmaceutical sub-sector. Hypothesis testing is done by using Paired Sample T-Test. The results of this study indicate that there are significant differences in returns in the transportation, telecommunications, hotel, restaurant, and tourism, and pharmaceutical sub-sectors before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be seen from the negative or positive mean difference before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
