Abstract :
A Dictionary is a media to translate which helps students in
teaching and learning process. It can help students find or look for some
difficult words. To help them understand English word easier. The
purposes of this research are to know the use of electronic dictionary and
the students responses.
The design of this study was Descriptive Design. This study would
be classified as qualitative research after considering the data obtained in
the form of descriptive about identifying English learning process with
electronic dictionary to increase the knowledge of the student in English
study. The use of an electronic dictionary in teaching and learning English
can help the students interpret the word quickly. It is showed by the result
of the students? answer directly.
Researcher used students in the eighth grade. Those classes
consisted of 76 students to collect the data. From the result, 61% students
used electronic dictionary in the class, 39% students used printed
dictionary in the class. There were many advantages in the use of
electronic dictionary in teaching and learning process.
The result of this research was dictionary used to improve students?
vocabulary in writing, speaking, reading and listening, and also dictionary
was used to measure the students? ability in vocabulary.
The researcher suggested that for English teacher ask the students
to remember words each day. For students if the teacher used seventh
implementations above in teaching and learning class, students did not
bored or lazy to study. Study with game refreshed their thought, so
teaching and learning process in the class itself was easy to be learnt by
them.
