Abstract :
Writing is the process to deliver our ideas or our thought. In writing the
written can give information to the readers. So it can be called that writing is tool
of communication.
The aim of this research is to search the effect of the collaborative writing
on writing narrative ability of 8thgrade students. The design of this research is
experiment. From 8 classes as population, the researcher chooses 2 classes as
sample. One class as experimental group and each other is control group. Taking
into consideration the various variants, pre-test and last-test were applied at the
beginning and at the final process. The test was writing narrative text which focus
on fairytale and legend.
The treatment was use in this research is collaborative writing method.
The treatment applied for four times in experimental group. After the researcher
applied this method the next step was give the students post-test.
The result showed that the null hypothesis should be rejected and the
statistical test that there was significant difference on students writing narrative
who were taught by using collaborative writing and who were taught without
collaborative writing in the eight grade students of SMN 1 Manyar.
The research finding showed that collaborative writing method was
effective to teach writing narrative ability. It was indicated on the students?
average score of post test. The average score of post-test in experimental group
was 79.56 and average score of post-test in control group was 76,08. Moreover,
the improvement was also shown in the students? assignment in the class. They
were has high motivation in teaching learning process.
