Abstract :
Although the curriculum has been refined several times, education in Indonesia
is still very alarming. The main problem in education today is the low absorptive
capacity of learners and learning is still traditional teacher-centered. Educators /
teachers are expected to understand the characteristics of the material, learners and
learning methodologies in the learning process so that learning will be varied so as to
increase the activity and creativity of the students. Therefore, the researcher is using
cooperative learning model type Group Investigation. Group Investigation is one
form of cooperative learning model that emphasizes the participation and activities of
the learners to find their own material (information) that lessons will be learned
through the materials available. The purpose of this study describe the activities of
students during follow the learning, learning outcomes of students after participating
in learning, and learner responses to cooperative learning model in SMP Negri 2
Gresik.
This research is descriptive. The study subjects were all students at VIII-C
class of SMP Negri 2 Gresik in 2012/2013 academic period which consisted of 33
students. The research instrument in this study is the observation activity sheets
learners, learning about the test results, and questionnaire responses of learners.
The results of learning math using cooperative learning model type Group
Investigation on material prism and pyramid show that the activity of learners
categorized, mastery learning students during the learning has been completed and
the response of students towards learning said to be positive.
