Abstract :
This study presented the objectives: 1) to investigate the target need of
students in marketing study program at the tenth grade, 2) to investigate the
learning need of students in marketing study program at the tenth grade, 3) to
determine the developing English materials using content based insruction (CBI)
approach. This study uses R&D design, while for the step is u sing ADDIE model
that modified by Candra Hadi Asmara (2012). The modified ADDIE model has
some steps: analysis, design, development, expert validation, revision, limited try
out and final product.
The need analysis consists of 2 things that to be analyzed , the first is
questionnaire includes target need and learning need, the second is interview.
According to the questionnaire data, the target need of students are: they learn
English to support their future job; students interest on speaking skill Meanwhi le
the learning need in term of inputs are: pictures, a simple monologue or dialogue
for speaking, listening, reading and writing input, then text in reading and writing
input that the whole of inputs are included marketing materials but some of them
are a bout daily life. There are 2 marketing materials that prefered by the students,
those are about the negotiation and confirmation on customers? decisio n . Then
talking about the procedures, students prefered by games, practice the dialogue
and describing pic tures The result of questionnaire data were analyzed by using
frequency ( f ) and precentage
Furthermore, the expert judgments checklist were given to the English
teacher and marketing teacher to check the appropriateness materials according to
the BNSP ( Badan Standart Nasional Prosedur ). The researcher use d SPSS
descriptive statistics to check the result of the experts? assessment. Both of results from English teacher and marketing teacher, shows the same mean score that is
3,23. It is mean a good category.
