Abstract :
Teaching grammar to students as foreign language is complex process. In
combining a unit of language to sentences form, grammar plays an important role.
However, in understanding the simple present tense also become one of the most
important parts that is in the grammar. This is just because simple present tense
more often used by students in their daily activity. Not only because the use
simple present tense is more frequent applied in the daily conversation but there
are some lessons that require students to understand well about the use of simple
present tense. And usually teacher in general, teaching the formulas and the way
to apply simple present tense by using traditional method.
From that reason, the researcher want to use other way which could make
it easier for students to understand about the formula of simple present tense by
using stick figure which comes equipped with some clue, so that are easily
constructing simple sentences in simple present form. So the purpose of this
study is to find out the significant result of constructing students simple present
form by using stick figure for 7 th grade at SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Giri.
In understanding all tenses no exception is the easiest tenses simple
present tense still be difficult things for students, so for English teacher expected
to have a lot of learning references or strategy, so the students can easily
understand well the use of simple present tense,
The research finding in this study show that, the statistical analysis of stick figure
is found that the value of sig.(2-tailed) of both group was 0.000 it means that the
significance was less than level or (0.000<0,05). It means that the null
hypothesis (H0) can be rejected and there was significance influence of stick
figure in constructing simple present for students.
