Abstract :
Literature is an important thing in our life because literature happens around us. Novel is one of literary works that was taken by the writer as the object of the study. This study focused on Harry?s psychological conflicts and the cause of Harry?s psychological conflicts in J.K Rowling?s novel ?Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?? This study used the descriptive qualitative research design because there was no treatment as in experimental research. This thesis just described or interpreted condition or situation. The approach used was analysis approach because this study did not analyze the line by line or word by word, but analyzed the content of J.K Rowling?s novel. Moreover, the research data were derived from paragraphs, dialogues, and events in the story which had relation to Harry psychological conflicts. The result of this study shows that there are three kinds of psychological conflicts faced by Harry. First, Harry?s anger, Harry was anger with Professor Umbridge, and his father. Second, Harry?s sadness because of Sirius? death. Third, Harry?s fear, Harry worried out of Hogwarts. The causes of Harry?s psychological conflicts were: first, the cause of Harry?s anger was the act of his father. Second, the cause of Harry?s sadness was Sirius fighting with Bellatrix. The last, the cause of Harry?s fear was Harry against the low of the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage sorcery.
