Abstract :
This study aims to understand how the role of social workers influences the social services provided to the elderly at the Tresna Werdha Social Services Center in Jombang. This research utilizes a qualitative approach with a descriptive type, and the subjects of this study are the social workers. Data collection techniques employed in this research include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study employs the interactive qualitative analysis model (Miles and Huberman). The research findings indicate that the role of social workers has a significant impact on the social services for the elderly at the Tresna Werdha Social Services Center in Jombang. Social workers function as facilitators, enablers, brokers, negotiators, initiators, empowers, and coordinators to support the elderly in overcoming physical, emotional, and social challenges during the aging process. Social workers also play a crucial role in designing service programs that cater to the needs and preferences of the elderly, as well as providing psychosocial support to them and their families. This research also identifies challenges faced by social workers in fulfilling their roles, such as limited resources and complex coordination among various stakeholders. Therefore, further efforts are needed in the training and development of social workers, as well as enhancing cross-sector collaboration to improve the quality of social services for the elderly at the Tresna Werdha Social Services Center.
