HUBUNGAN OBESITAS DENGAN KEJADIAN PENYAKIT HIPERTENSI DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS BEJI KECAMATAN JUNREJO KOTA BATU

Abstract :
Background: Overweight may endanger health because it may cause various illness such as heart illness, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and many other.From data obtained in Beji Public Health Center, Junrejo subdistrict, Batu Residence, there are 2846 visitings with hypertension case on Mei 2003 until March 2004.This research is to evaluate relation of obesity and hypertention occurance.Method : It is quantitative research design of cross – sectional analytic.Sampling is accidental sampling with samples of people with obesity and people without obesity who live in Beji village.Respondents weight and height are measured by weight scale and inetric scale.Blood pressure is measured by tensimeter.Measurement scale used for weight and height is nominal ( obesity and non obesity ), and for blood pressure is nominal ( hypertension and non hypertension ).Data analysis technique uses Chi – Square test.Result : Result of this research shows that relation of obesity and hypertension occurance is analyzed by using chi-square test with a = 0,05 and df = 1, then we get X2calculate = 4,84 greater than X2table = 3,84.Based on the result above, we can conclude that there is acceptance on H1 and there is rejection on H0.It means there is a relation of obesity and hypertension occurance.This research can be used as recommendation for further research development with more samples and more satisfactory discussion.
