Abstract :
In a families that have a children with special needs, the quality of relationships must always be maintained. Its because their problems will be more complex than a families with normal children. Families with exceptional children have threat of divorce in the first 8 years presence of children is quite high, and in the following years the threat of divorce has decreased. The purpose of this study is to find out how Relationship Maintenance is carried out by families that have exceptional children. This research used descriptive qualitative research. Meanwhile, for data collection use interviews technique. The subjects in this study are families that have exceptional childern who attend Maharani Special Elementary School in Paciran Village, Lamongan Regency. The results of this study indicate that in Relationship Maintenance positive attitude behaviors include how to convey criticism and how couples deal with differing opinions. the behavior of openness involves an open attitude between partners. the guarantee includes mutual support in work and caring for children. Owned networks include the nuclear family, friendship environment, community environment, and experts. While the division of tasks includes the division of domestic tasks in the family and also tasks in parenting.
