Abstract :
The existence of forest areas is an important aspect of human life and other living things. However, the problem of forest and land damage continues to occur and has increased so that the land area has become critical. The main characteristics of critical land are bare, arid impression and even rocks appear on the surface of the soil and are generally located in areas with hilly or steeply sloping land topography. The need for monitoring regarding signs of critical land in order to prevent the occurrence of critical land. This study aims to identify the spatial distribution of critical land using a Geographic Information System (GIS) in Forest Areas with Special Purposes (KHdTK) University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The method used is the overlay method, scoring and weighting. Parameters determining critical land include land cover, slope, erosion hazard level, and land management. Each parameter is weighted in value and overlaid (overlaid) on each regional function. The results of land criticality level data processing in Forest Areas with Special Purposes are divided into four classes, namely 3.309 Ha (4%) uncritical, 42.527 Ha (55%) critical potential, 24.808 Ha (32%) moderately critical, and 24.808 Ha (32%) critical 7,289 (9%).
