Abstract :
Background: Parabens are antibacterial compounds that can be used to reduce contamination and the spread of bacteria, this is because the properties of parabens for antibacterial are directly proportional to the chain length of the ester group, and inversely proportional to the solubility in cosmetic water containing paraben preservatives is equal to 0.4% in a single preservative and for mixed preservatives is 0.8% Objective: To find out what information is discussed in online news about cosmetic preparations containing parabens, to determine the accuracy of the information compared to the existing scientific literature. Method: The method used is descriptive qualitative or literature study from various online news portals. The keyword used for the news search is "Parabens in cosmetics". With a range of years of publication (2017-2021). In this study, the data to be processed is assisted by the use of Nvivo 12 plus software Results and Conclusion: Data processing using the Nvivo 12 plus application, namely information that is often discussed in online news, namely breast cancer with the percentage of the hierarchy chart is 22%. And for the types of preparations that are often discussed, namely Lotion preparations with such a large percentage hierarchy chart is 5,56%, while the benefits that are often discussed are as cosmetic preservatives that function as anti-bacterial and are in accordance with existing scientific journals. Keywords: Parabens in Cosmetics, Nvivo 12 Plus.
