Abstract :
Education makes the quality of the Indonesian nation will be more advanced and will determine the direction that will lead to the future of the Indonesian state. The existence of the ideals and goals of the Indonesian nation as stated in the 1945 Constitution in the fourth paragraph emphasizes making the driving force in running the education system in Indonesia. But in reality it still cannot be adjusted. There are still children who have lost the right to education, which all children must have to get it. also the right to education can sustain a brighter future. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the Batu City government in handling school dropouts. This research is a qualitative research using a descriptive approach. . The parties who will be written as research subjects are the Mayor of Batu City, the Head of the Batu City Education Office. Results Based on the data analysis, it was concluded that: the role of the Batu City government in handling children experiencing school dropouts, has been regulated in the Batu City Regional Regulation No. 17 concerning the education system. In this regional regulation, the role of the Education Office is very important, where the Education Office plays a role in implementing policies that have been carried out by methods of socialization and mediation with related parties, both with teaching institutions and the general public. The socialization that was voiced to the education or school organizers called for providing a bench to be occupied by children who returned from dropping out of school. In the affirmation of the Batu City Regional Regulation No. 17 concerning the Education Delivery System which is emphasized in article 52 to determine the amount of 20 percent of the APBD budget to support the educational needs of children who experience school unequal distribution to the related families.
