Abstract :
The research aims to find out the reasons of buying defense equipment from Taiwan to the United States. Taiwan is one of the areas that use weapons from the US. As much as 70 percent of Taiwan's weapons are imported from the US while the remaining 30 percent are weapons made domestically in cooperation with US arms companies. The method used in this research is qualitative research. Some of the data obtained from books, articles, journals, news, newspapers and other media. In this study, rational choice theory and the concept of revolution in military affairs are used by looking at the cases of the study. The results of this study indicate that the purchase of defense equipment by Taiwan to the United States was due to the Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) agreement that was agreed in 1979 which make Taiwan dependent to buy military weapons against the US. Besides, it is also to revitalize and increase the need for modernization of Taiwan's defense equipment, it makes Taiwan feel confident to fight against China which is getting bigger.
