Abstract :
Background: Breast cancer (carcinnoma mammae) is a malignancy that attacks the mammary glands, gland ducts and supporting tissues of the breast. Data from the Global Burden of Cancer (Globocan) in 2020, the number of new cases of breast cancer reached 68,858 cases (16.6%) out of a total of 396,914 cases of cancer in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the number of deaths reached more than 22 thousand people. Until now, various risk factors have been identified that play a role in the occurrence of breast cancer, both modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors. Some of them are
age, family history of breast cancer, and body mass index.
Objective: Analyzing the risk factors associated with the incidence of breast cancer at the General Hospital of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
Methods: This study uses an analytical observational research method with a case control approach.
Research and Discussion Result: The results of the bivariate analysis obtained two variables that were significantly related to breast cancer, namely the age variable with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), and the body mass index variable with a p-value of 0.003 (p < 0.05). The results of the multivariate logistic regression analysisin this study showed that the age range of 41-50 years had a p value of 0.001 (p <0.05) and OR: 18.769 (95% CI 3,433-102,607), and in the age range 51-60 years had p value of 0.031 (p < 0.05) and OR: 5.629 (CI95% 1.172-27.040) which indicates that this age range is the most influential risk factor for the incidence of breast cancer at the General Hospital of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the risk factors of age and body mass index on the incidence of breast cancer at the General Hospital of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
