Abstract :
The increasing use of social media every year is one of the causes of the emergence of various new problems, one of them is the fear of missing out (FoMO). Behavior in playing social media cannot be separated from human personality factors. The extraversion personality is one of the personality dimensions with a high level of social media use. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of extraversion on the fear of missing out among teenagers who are active users of Instagram. This study uses a quantitative method with a correlational design. Respondents in this study were 217 teenagers aged 13-18 years and active users of social media Instagram. The sampling technique used accidental sampling and the measuring instruments used were IPIP-BFM-50 on the dimensions of extraversion and Fear of Missing Out Scale (FoMO Scale). Data analysis used a simple linear regression test with the help of SPSS IBM 22 software. The results showed that there was a significant positive effect of extraversion personality on fear of missing out in adolescent active Instagram users %) with extraversion personality contributed 15% influence.
