Abstract :
This research aims to find out the kinds of the word deixis used by Woody character in Toy Story 4 movie script and the semantics meaning of the word deixis according to contextual and lexical meaning in the utterances produced by Woody character in Toy Story 4 movie script. The subject of this research was Woody?s utterance in Toy Story 4 movie script. Afterward, the object of this research was deictic expression which found in Woody?s utterance as the main character in Toy Story 4 movie script. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by observing the movie script which has many of deixis words. Then, the researcher transcribed Woody?s utterances in the movie script, classified the deictic expression, and analyzed the word meaning of the deictic expression in the data. The result of this research showed that the three types of deixis using Levinson?s (1983) theory. The results of this research indicate that there are 153 utterances produced by the main character (Woody) that contain deictic expression and have contextual and laxical meaning based on the deixis used in whole utterances. The researcher found 3 types of deixis. There are 144 utterances containing personal deixis, 6 utterances containing spatial deixis, and 3 utterances containing temporal deixis. In eddition, the researcher concluded that personal deixis is the most dominant of all the types of deixis and the researcher found 153 utterances that have contextual and lexical meaning in each of the utterances. It is suggested that the next researchers develop this study of deixis analysis with more the type of deixis because in this research, the researcher only focus on three types of deixis.
