Abstract :
Vocabulary is one of the essential aspects of learning English. However,
students' vocabulary mastery at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Way Bungur still needs
improvement. To address this issue, the researcher implemented two types of
digital games, Digital Crossword Puzzle and Digital Scrabble, as learning media.
This study aims to determine which of these two digital games is more effective in
improving students' vocabulary mastery at the third grade of MTs
Muhammadiyah 1 Way Bungur. This research employed a quantitative method
with a pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 55 third-grade
students. Based on the analysis, there was no significant difference in the
effectiveness of the two games, as the significance value was greater than 0.05
(sig > 0.05). However, the average data showed that the Digital Scrabble game
was more effective in improving students' test scores compared to the Digital
Crossword Puzzle game. The average post-test score for Digital Scrabble was
58.55, with an increase of 20.55 from the pre-test, while the Digital Crossword
Puzzle game showed an increase of 9.64. From these results, it can be
concluded that, although there was no statistically significant difference, the
Digital Scrabble game was more effective in enhancing students' vocabulary
mastery at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Way Bungur compared to the Digital
Crossword Puzzle game.
