Abstract :
The problems in this research are the students' low vocabulary mastery,
traditional learning strategies used by the teacher, and low student participation in the
learning process. The purpose of this research is to find out whether video-based learning
can enrich vocabulary mastery of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 7 Metro. In this
research, the researcher conducted classroom action research (CAR) which was carried
out in three cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation and reflection.
The subjects of this research were 31 students in class VIII B of SMP Negeri 7 Metro. In
collecting data, the researcher used pre-test, post-test, observation sheets and interview.
The data analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis technique and quantitative
descriptive statistics.
The results of the research show that video-based learning can improve
vocabulary mastery of class VIII B students at SMP Negeri 7 Metro, this can be seen in
the progress of the pre-test and post-test from cycle 1 to cycle 3. The average pre-test
score was 47.67% and got an average score in cycle 3 was 81.73%. pre-test and posttest

2.36%.
This
means
that
the
post
test
results have reached indicators of success that can be achieved because 70% of
students got an average score of 74. Student participation in learning has also increased,
which can be seen from the results of the observation sheet in cycle I to cycle III. The
students' responses during interviews were positive, according to students, video-based
learning can be easily found on various platforms and can be studied anywhere. This can
be seen from the enthusiasm of students during learning. For further research, it is best to
involve teachers as collaborators to get more accurate results.
