Abstract :
In this study, the researcher discusses what vowel pronunciation
errors are often made by students and identifies the causes or reasons
why students make vowel pronunciation errors in first semester students
of the English education study programme at Muhammadiyah Metro
University.
In this study, researchers used descriptive qualitative methods,
researchers took 28 samples selected using purposive sampling
techniques. The instruments chosen in this study are: 1) oral test which
consisting of 89 vowel sounds, 2) interview consisting of 8 questions. In
analysing the data, the researcher used U-Dictionary or Audio Dictionary.
