Abstract :
This study was classroom action research. It was conducted at SMAN 1
Pekalongan In Academic year 2019/2020. The subject of the research is eleventh
grade. The objective of the study was to know how two stay two stray strategy
can improve speaking ability at eleventh grade SMAN 1 Pekalongan in Academic
year 2019/2020. The research was conducted in two cycles and each cycles
consist of three meetings.The criterion of success of the research is if 70% from
16 students have a good score in speaking ability get score ? 70 as KKM. In
collecting the data, the researcher used observation, questionnaire and test. In
analyzing the data, the researcher apply statistics descriptive.
The result of the test showed that the average students score in the precycle
test was 47.81%, it meant poor categories. In the first cycle, the students
test got 56.25%. Based on the result of first cycle, it showed fair. In the second
cycle students test got 75.00%. The result of second cycle it showed good. In
addition for classroom activity in cycle 1 got 46%, and in the second cycle the
students classroom activity got 75%.
Based on the findings, it can be concluded that two stay two stray strategy
is improving students speaking ability. Therefore, it is recommended strategy that
can be used as an alternative strategy in teaching speaking.
