Abstract :
In teaching learning process, the teacher has an important role to give
motivation students' and contribution for the student?s success in learning, for
example is using Assessment Portfolio in writing, because portfolio assessment
emphasizes a continuous process. The purpose of this research is to know
whether significant of using assessment portfolio towards students writing ability
at the eleventh graders of Negeri 1 Kotagajah Senior High School. The use of
Assessment Portfolio may contribute to give motivation to the students in order to
be more interested in the subject of writing. Moreover, if students are interested
in the subject of writing, the achievement of students' writing comprehension skill
will be improved.
The research was conducted by quantitative methods. The population of
the research consisted of 67 students. The research divided into two class, those
are 33 students as the experimental class and 34 students as the control class,
the total of the sample consists of 40 students. The research used Convenience
sampling technique and an analysis by using t-test formula. The instruments of
this research were pre-test and post-test. The result of analysis was indicated
that the value of t obtained (9.143) was higher than that of t table (2.03) at the
significance level 0.05 and the significance (0.000) was lower than 0.05). It
means that there was significant influence toward students' writing ability using
Assessment Portfolio at the eleventh graders of Negeri 1 Kotagajah Senior High
School.
