Abstract :
This research is entitled " Kesedihan Tokoh Utama dalam Kumpulan Puisi The Poems Of Anne Bronte Karya Anne Bronte". The method that was used was descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques used reading and notetaking techniques. Data analysis was used qualitative data analysis techniques. The source of data is taken from Anne Bronte?s collection poems. This study has used the theory of the deep structure of poems which includes tone, feel, theme and mandate according to Richard I.A. (1991), Chomsky (1997), Waluyo (1991), and theory of sadness according to Krech (1969), Stearns (2015), Summerfield and Green (1986). This study aims to describe: the elements of the dee structure of the poem in the Anne Bronte?s collection poems and to describe the sadness of the main character in the Anne Bronte?s collection poems. In this study, the researcher found: The elements of the inner structure of the poem which include tone, taste, theme, and mandate. There are four types of tones that find ,such as; tones of reminiscing, hope, despair, and confusion, Four kinds of feels such as; disappointed, amazed, lonely and longing. The four types of themes are; memories of the past, the meaning of home, memories of someone and unexpected life. The four types of mandates are; the meaning of life, the meaning of a home, letting go and about loved ones. Then the researcher also find four types of sadness depiction of the main character, such as; longing for the past, longing for someone, hopelessness in life and loneliness.
