Abstract :
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 15% of deaths in children under the age of 5 years were caused by pneumonia in 2017, more than 800,000 children. In general, pneumonia is almost the same as an acute lower respiratory tract infection (ARI) that affects the lung parenchyma. Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs caused by the presence of bacteria accompanied by symptoms of high fever, cough with phlegm, rapid breathing (breathing frequency > 50 times/minute), shortness of breath, and other symptoms (headache, restlessness and decreased appetite), there is nostril breathing. On the chest, there is an increase in respiratory effort, irregular breathing frequency and rhythm, in the lungs there are additional crackles on auscultation. The purpose of this case study is to educate mothers' knowledge about handling pneumonia in children. The method in this scientific paper is a case study using booklet media education. The results of the intervention showed an increase in mother's knowledge about handling pneumonia in children. It can be concluded that booklet media education has an effect on mother's knowledge about handling pneumonia in mothers and children. The conclusion from writing this scientific paper is that education of mother's knowledge about handling pneumonia in children with booklet media can increase mother's knowledge about handling pneumonia in children.
