Abstract :
This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the effect of using image media on the ability to write free poetry in class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Takokak in the academic year 2020/2021. The number of research samples used were 26 people in the control class and 26 people in the experimental class. The experimental class is a class that is given treatment using image media in learning, while the control class is not given conventional treatment/learning. This research method is an experiment with a pretest - posttest control group research design. The instrument used is a free poetry writing test. The results of this study found that there was an influence on the use of image media on the ability to write poetry for even semester VIII students at SMP Negeri 7 Takokak. This is evidenced by the posttest value of the experimental class is greater than the control class, namely the experimental class obtained an average value of 71.42 while the control class who was not given learning using image media obtained an average value of 79.65. In addition, it is proven by the results of the paired sample t test hypothesis test obtained at a significant level of 0.05 indicating that the probability value (signification) is (0.00j
