Abstract :
Diarrhea is still a global problem with high morbidity and mortality rates in many countries, especially in developing countries. Based on the data obtained, it is stated that the prevalence of diarrhea in the working area of the Selbatu Public Health Center, Sukabumi City in toddlers and preschoolers is in the 5th place with a total of about 3,423 cases. or 7.4%. This also triggers high rates of child morbidity and mortality in the world. Diarrhea can be prevented by maintaining personal hygiene, such as washing hands after activities and before eating with proper hand washing procedures. However, there are still many who do not understand how to wash their hands properly and correctly. Therefore, it is necessary to have a strategy to provide information evenly related to good and correct hand washing procedures to every child in the school environment by using the singing method as a forum for information. This study aims to determine how effective the singing method in washing hands is against knowledge deficits in preschool children with diarrhea. This research method uses several methods including using observation, interviews and case studies. The researcher applied the singing method in conveying hand washing procedures for 6 meetings. The results showed that there was a significant increase in preschool age children. which is illustrated by the results on the first day that they did not know at first after being given health counseling with the singing method for 6 meetings in the end they knew and understood the problems they were facing. It is expected that preschool children always get used to clean and healthy living behavior, especially in washing hands 6 steps in a row to avoid various diseases and germs.
