Abstract :
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by a decrease in the result of cell
sensitivity to insulin. When insulin levels decrease it is because insulin is produced by the
Beta cells of the pancreas,type 2 diabetes mellitus is considered Non Insulin Dependent
Diabetes Mellitus (NIDM). In general, the number of People with diabetes have
experienced increase of around 8.5% so that The estimated number of sufferers in
Indonesia reaches around more than 16 million people. One of the Non-pharmacological
management in type 2 diabetes mellitus is with Slow Deep Breathing Exercise.Slow Deep
Breathing Exercise is a Breathing technique in a slow,deep, relaxed manner that can give
the results of a relaxation response. Relaxation response.This study aims to determine the
effectiveness of the Slow Deep Breathing Exercise technique for blood glucose levels in
patients with diabetes mellitus. Blood glucose levels in type II diabetes mellitus patients.
The paper uses a case study method. the Slow Deep Breathing Exercise technique is done
for 7 Consecutive days and is done 2 times a day for 10 minutes. the result of the case
study obtained after perfoming the Slow Deep Breathing Exercise technique there was a
decrease in blood glucose levels Which was originally on the first 304 mg/dl decreased to
183 mg/dl on day 7.It can be concluded that The application of Slow Deep Breathing
Exercise can continuously reduce blood glucose levels in patients with type II diabetes
mellitus equivalent to 4,90.
