Abstract :
Arthritis Gout is an inflammation of the joints due to high levels of uric acid in the blood,
due to disruption of purine metabolism (hyperuricemia) in the body, but uric acid levels in
the blood can also be controlled with pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies
One of the management of reducing hypertension with non-pharmacological therapy is the
application of bay leaf decoction. This therapy has the advantages of being easy to do, can
be done anywhere, by anyone and does not cause side effects. The purpose of this study was
to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of giving bay leaf decoction in reducing uric
acid levels in gouty astritis patients in the Working Area of the Cidadap Health Center,
Sukabumi Regency. This application method uses a case study strategy. The researcher
applied the bay leaf decoction for 7 consecutive days, given at a dose of 200 cc or the
equivalent of ½ cup per day after that he made another observation. The results obtained
after the application of bay leaf decoction was originally 7.0 mg/dL decreased to 6.0 mg/dL,
the pain scale was originally 6 (0-10) to 0 (0-10). It can be concluded that the application
of bay leaf decoction is effective for reducing uric acid levels and pain intensity in patients
with gouty arthritis
