Abstract :
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic system instability characterized by elevated blood
glucose levels. There are several factors that can cause symptoms of type II diabetes,
namely due to age, obesity and family history or genetics. There are many ways to treat
type II diabetes mellitus, there are pharmacological and non-pharmacological ways, one
of which is drinking water therapy (hydrotherapy). Consuming water regularly
(hydrotherapy) in accordance with the provisions is very beneficial for the balance of
fluids and electrolytes needed by the body. By consuming water (hydrotherapy) can help
in the process of removing toxins in the body, including excess sugar to reduce blood
glucose levels. This study aims to determine how effective the application of hydrotherapy
is in patients with type II diabetes mellitus for lowering blood glucose levels. This
research method uses a case study method. The application of hydrotherapy was carried
out for 5 days of home visits, the results obtained were blood glucose levels which were
originally 370 mg/dl decreased to 185 mg/dl. It can be concluded that the application of
hydrotherapy is effective for lowering blood glucose levels in patients with type II
diabetes mellitus
