Abstract :
Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience that a person feels due to tissue
damage. This pain can also make a person anxious and feel uncomfortable so that it hinders
the healing process and can even make the disease worse. It is possible that 75% of
postoperative patients experience pain complaints. Factors that can influence pain are age,
previous experience, cultural norms and attitudes towards diversity, anxiety, meaning of pain,
attention, and fatigue. Pain measurement is divided into two subjective and objective.
However, pain can also be controlled with pharmacological and non-pharmacological
therapy, namely the five finger relaxation technique. This application aims to reduce the pain
scale. This application method uses a case study strategy. Application of the five finger
relaxation technique using music once a day for three consecutive days. This relaxation is
carried out for 15 minutes. The results obtained after relaxation therapy showed a decrease in
the pain scale from 6 to 2. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of five finger
relaxation therapy on reducing the pain scale.
