Appendicitis is an acute or chronic inflammatory process that occurs in the worm-shaped appendix due to obstruction of the appendix lumen. The vermiform appendix or appendix, better known as the appendix, is a small, blind sac attached to the cecum. In mild cases, appendicitis can go away on its own without treatment, but in most cases a laparotomy is needed to remove the infected appendix. Appendectomy surgery in patients with appendicitis, if not given proper and correct treatment, can cause complications in post-appendectomy wounds with the risk of infection. This case study aims to provide nursing care to post appendectomy patients with nursing problems at risk of infection.
Nursing care for post appendicectomy patients with nursing problems at risk of infection was carried out in the Flamboyan Room, RSUD Dr. Harjono Ponorogo for 3 days in July 2022. The method used is a nursing process approach.
The results of the study showed that Mrs. I complained of lower right abdominal pain due to surgery wounds, the pain felt sometimes like playing when used for activities and rest. Nursing actions taken to overcome the problem include wound care, collaborating with ketorolac and transamine injection drugs, monitoring wound characteristics, monitoring signs and symptoms of infection, scheduling position changes every 2 hours or according to the patient's condition, explaining signs and symptoms of infection, recommending consuming high-calorie foods and proteins.
Nursing care for post-appendectomy patients with infection risk nursing problems is expected to be an illustration for nurses, especially in handling patients who are at risk of infection with wound care and education, scheduling changes in position every 2 hours or according to the patient's condition, recommending consuming foods high in calories and protein.
