Abstract :
The phenomenon that occurs in Islamic boarding schools is that students are often exposed to scabies, it happens that clean and healthy living behaviors such as individual habits become the main thing that is very common to be less noticed by students. This study aimed to determine the relationship between clean and healthy living behavior (personal hygiene of the body, clothes, and nails) with the incidence of scabies at the Nurul Qur'an Pakunden Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School.
The research design used was a correlation with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was 625 students with 86 samples taken using the sampling technique method, namely purposive sampling. The data collection process used questionnaires with chi-square analysis ? (0.05).
The results of the study of 86 respondents found that 3 respondents (18.8%) had clean and healthy living behaviors both with the incidence of scabies, while 13 respondents (81.2%) did not experience the incidence of scabies, 3 respondents (13.0%) had clean and healthy living behaviors sufficient with the incidence of scabies, and 20 respondents ( 87.0%) did not experience scabies. A total of 38 respondents (80.9%) had less clean and healthy living behavior with the incidence of scabies, and 9 respondents (19.1%) did not experience scabies. Based on the results of statistical tests, p-values (0.000) < (0.05) were obtained, indicating that there was a relationship between clean and healthy living behavior (personal cleanliness of the body, clothing, and nails) with the incidence of scabies at the Nurul Qur'an Pakunden Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School.
This study concludes that there is a relationship between behavior and the incidence of scabies. The better the behavior of students in Islamic boarding schools, the incidence of scabies will decrease. It is expected for Islamic boarding school managers to improve the cleanliness of the cottage environment regularly and provide socialization related to scabies prevention and carrying out clean and healthy living behaviors.
