Abstract :
The process of joining two or more metal parts using heat energy is called welding. Dissimilar metal welding is a development of modern welding technology due to the need for joining materials that have different metal types. Residual stresses can trigger corrosion in the weld. In this research, welding simulations were carried out on different metal types with variations in welding currents. Numerical analysis was carried out to obtain the large effect of the welding current on the residual stress that occurs in different types of metal between AISI 1045 and SS 202 steel. Numerical analysis was carried out using ANSYS R2 2022 software based on the finite element method to analyze the behavior of temperature distribution and residual stress on the metal. AISI steel 1045 and SS 202. From this study, the peak temperature values were obtained for the 140 A variation of 2448.60 °C, the 120 A variation of 1963.80 °C and the 100 A variation of 1479.10 °C. The residual stress values obtained are for the 140 A variation of 235.90 MPa, the 120 A variation is 202.11 MPa and the 100 A variation is 168.35 MPa. Based on the results of this study to get a good welding using a welding current of 120 A because it gets a low residual stress value with sufficient temperature to melt the two different materials.
