The lack of numeracy literacy skills currently possessed by students is caused by a lack of understanding of the numerical ideas or concepts being studied, students not accustomed to working on numeracy literacy word problems, difficulties in solving unstructured problems, and. The application of the problem based learning (PBL) learning model is a solution for teachers. This study aims to determine the effect of problem based learning (PBL) on the numeracy literacy of class VII students at Siman 1 Public Middle School.
This research is a quantitative research with pre-experimental type experimental method. The design in this study was one group pretest-posttest. The population of this study were all students of class VII Siman 1 Public Middle School. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample of class VII B consisting of 26 students to apply the problem based learning (PBL) learning model. The data collection technique was given literacy pretest-posttest questions.
The results showed that the average posttest score was 68.2 better than the pretest average score of 28.4. From the results of the t test using the paired sample test, a significance value of 0.000 is less than an alpha value of 0.05, meaning that there is a difference before and after being given the treatment of problem-based learning models. Then there is the influence of the problem-based learning model on students' numeracy literacy skills.
Keywords: Problem based learning, numeracy literacy skills.
