ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ STRATEGY FOR LEARNING ENGLISH WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF E-RESOURCES IN BLENDED LEARNING (A CASE OF TWO UNIVERSITIES IN PONOROGO)

Abstract :
The world?s growth in information technology is expanding in the twenty-first century. This is shown in the multitude of facets of life that are developing, including the economic, socio-cultural, and educational components. Distance learning and electronic media, including electronic resources, are two educational features that are evolving as a result of technical improvements and the COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged the world. Nevertheless, English language training in today?s society is going to be challenging. It is identical to how e-resources are used in English education in blended learning. The study aims to investigate the strategies used by English education students to learn English using various e-resources in blended learning and the factors that influence students? desire to use those strategies. The researcher used descriptive-quantitative methods in this investigation. The data was gathered at Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo and Institut Agama Islam Negeri Ponorogo (IAIN Ponorogo), where two classes of sixth-semester English students were involved. The SILL questionnaire and interviews were used to collect the data for this research. The result of the study showed that the participants used the metacognitive method mostly, with an average of 3.86. The study also revealed that students used five other methods, including cognitive (M = 3.35), compensation (M = 3.34), affective (M = 3.20), social (M = 3.16), and memory (M = 3.14). Then, students? use of these strategies was because of some factors including motivation to learn English, learning style, and ease of learning. In conclusion, the various strategies employed for learning English were different as well as the factors influencing strategy selection by each participant.
