Abstract :
Cigarette smoke contains various dangerous substances and can cause disease, both in active and passive smokers. Indonesia is the third highest cigarette market in the world after China and India. The Ministry of Health recorded a significant increase in the number of adult active smokers within 10 years. Even though the government has provided special smoking room facilities, the existing smoking rooms do not yet have a good air circulation system. Therefore, a cigarette smoke decomposition tool is designed using the MQ2 Sensor and Electrostatic precipitator. This tool is equipped with an LCD to determine the level of smoke in the room and can be monitored with the Web Service application. Cigarette smoke decomposer that is designed and tested successfully meets the initial design and functions properly. The use of electrostatic precipitators and MQ2 sensors has proven effective in reducing the concentration of cigarette smoke by up to 86.1%. The tool also managed to function properly, with an indicator that cigarette smoke can be sucked up fairly quickly in less than a minute.
