Abstract :
Final-year university students are commonly faced with obstacles during the process of working on their thesis. The impacts of these obstacles can lead to the postponement of university completion and deteriorating mental health, with feelings of depression and losing hope. The role of optimism and self-regulation can help final-year university students reduce the negative impacts of the challenges they face. This research aims to know the correlation between optimism and self-regulation of final-year university students in finishing their thesis. The method of this research is a quantitative approach with correlation analysis. The instruments used in this research are the optimism scale (LOT-R) and self-regulation scale (SSRQ) in the form of an online questionnaire to collect the data needed. The result of this research shows that there is a significant positive correlation between optimism and self-regulation in final-year university students who are working on their thesis. The result of the correlation between optimism and self-regulation is r=0,511; p<.001, which implies that the higher the optimism a final-year university student has, their self-regulation also increases, and vice versa.
