Abstract :
The latest data in January 2020, UNESCO stated that Indonesia ranks second from the bottom in terms of world literacy, meaning that people's reading interest is very low. According to UNESCO data, the reading interest of the Indonesian people is very concerning, only 0.001%. This means that out of 1,000 Indonesians, only 1 person is an avid reader. Less interesting learning media is one of the factors for low children's reading interest, First is the application of illustrations that are not suitable for their age and the correct supporting media for sure they can be encouraged to read, In the technological era like now many elementary school students, especially age 7 -8 years who already have a gadget, they can access anything, one of which is audio video with a good picture display that appeals to them. While the books in the elementary school library have less attractive illustrations, most of the books in the library prioritize narrative. Moreover, the application of learning in schools that are less interactive, such as listening to lectures, seems monotonous and can make them bored quickly. Illustrations play an important role in reading books, especially if they are able to increase their reading enthusiasm.
