Abstract :
Panjebar Semangat is a Java-based weekly magazine published in Surabaya. This magazine first appeared on September 2 nd , 1933. Panjebar Semangat was founded by Dr. Soetomo, the founder of Budi Utomo, as one of the media used for the struggle for Indonesian independence.This magazine is used to rekindle the spirit of seizing independence. Instead of using the newly declared Indonesian language in 1928, Panjebar Semangat actually existed with the Java language until now. Panjebar Semangat was even the only magazine awarded the MURI record as the oldest magazine. This study is conducted to identify the type of Borrowing word of selected Panjebar Semangat Megazine19 th Edition and the kinds of English borrowing words that mostly used in Panjebar Semangat Magazine. The study uses the theory of Borrowing Word from Haugen to do the analysis.The study uses descriptive qualitative method. The data is Borrowing word and the source of data is Panjebar Semangat Megazine.The data are categorized into the types of Borrowing word. The analysis of data uses rules as the pattern of analyzing borrowing word based on Haugen?s theory of Borrowing word. After that, the data is interpreted using meaning explanation based on oxford dictionary.The analysis finds that The three types of Borrowing based on Haugen?s theory are found in Panjebar Semangat Megazine. They are Loanword, Loanblend, Loanshift. The data will interpretedusing meaning explanation based on oxford dictionary. The study suggest that other researchers will do research about Borrowing word in other mass madia who have unique style of written like Panjebar Semangat Megazine.
