Abstract :
This study aims to (1) classify the types and forms of implicatures, and (2) explain the function and meaning of implicatures in the novel Sebel Tapi Suka by Ritz Maroon. The object of this research is implicatures and its use in the speech of each character in the novel Sebel Tapi Suka. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research. The research data was collected by applying the listening method along with the listening and note-taking technique. In the novel Sebel Tapi Suka found 28 implicature data classified according to the type of implicature, namely 13 coventional implicature data and 15 conversational implicature data. The results of the classification of sentence goups containing implicatures, as many as 18 data for statement sentences, 9 data for interrogative sentences, and 1 data for exclamations of sentences. The implicature function in the speech data affects the situation when the speech event occurs, which is to function as a form of satire, advice, and criticism, which is supported by the feelings of each character in the novel Sebel Tapi Suka.
