This study was conducted to know the effectiveness of pictorial reading in improving students? reading interest to the seventh-grade students of MTS N 1 Grobogan, Central Java. This research used a quantitative method with quasi-experimental design. There were 2 classes which were the control group and the experimental group. In the experimental group, the students were taught using pictorial reading, meanwhile, in the control group, the students were taught without using pictorial reading. This research was conducted through these procedures: giving pre-test, conducting treatment, and giving post-test. The data was collected by test. The result of the research shows that there is significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. It can be seen from the data analysis by using a t-test. T-value is 11,3430600014, with the level of significance of 5% with df 58, the 2,001. It shows that t-value>t-table. So, Na is rejected and Ha is accepted. The mean of students? post-test score in control group was 62,83, and the mean of students? post-test score in experimental group was 80. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the students? reading interest who were taught with pictorial reading and the students? reading interest who were taught without pictorial reading.
