Aini, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D. Keywords: idioms; idioms classification; idioms meaning; ?Enola Holmes? movie One of the topics studied in Lexical studies is idioms. Idiom is considered difficult to understand because the meaning of idiom is often opaque and cannot always be translated literally. English movies can be used as interesting learning media to learn idiom. Through English movies, English learners can find out a lot of new and hard vocabularies such as slang, phrasal verbs, and idiom. This final project was aimed to analyze about the types and meanings of the idioms in the ?Enola Holmes? movie. The idioms were classified according to Fernando's theory as pure idioms, semi-idioms, and literal idioms. The meaning of the idioms was translated based on the appropriate context in the ?Enola Holmes? movie using relevant online dictionaries. Based on the analysis, the researcher found 61 idioms from the ?Enola Holmes? movie. According to the classification, there were 25 pure idioms, 20 semi idioms, and 16 literal idioms. The meaning of the idioms was explained according to the context and presented by including sentences or dialogues in the ?Enola Holmes? movie where the idioms were used. The ?Enola Holmes? movie could be chosen as a media to teach idioms, and this research could contribute as a reference to study idiom.
