Final project, English study program, Faculty of Language and Art Education, University PGRI Semarang. Advisor I: Siti Nur?Aini, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D. Advisor II: Faiza Hawa, S.Pd., M.Hum. Keyword: Microsoft Teams, Perception, Challenges, Online learning The objectives of the research are: 1) to find out the students? perception after using Microsoft Teams in English online learning. 2) to describe the challenges that the students face in using Microsoft Teams in English online learning. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research was the eleventh grade of SMA N 1 Gubug in academic year 2021/2022. The researcher observed one class that was XI Science 8 consist of 36 students. The data of this research were collected by using questionnaires and in depth interview. The questionnaires consists of 30 items. The researcher categorizes the results of the questionnaire into four indicators, namely in terms of accessibility, student perception, material and assignment delivery, and learning activity of the use of Microsoft Teams. The interview consist of ten questions. The findings of this research indicate that (1) students? perception after using Microsoft Teams in English online learning is positive. Students have have positive responses to it. Microsoft Teams app is effective for distance learning English. From the interview results, as many as 56% of respondents said that Microsoft Teams was effective for online learning English, 33% said it was ineffective, and 11% were neutral. Students found it helpful in meeting and collecting assignments in one application (2) challenges faced by students in the using Microsoft Teams in English online learning. The challenges that students faced in the use of Microsoft Teams in English online learning such as poor internet connection, that causes lags and errors, consumes a lot of internet quota, and students have a lack of enthusiasm on taking English online classes. Those challenges result in the emergence of cause and effect. The causes are the poor internet connections, lag or error, and big internet quota consumption. Those causes are resulting students lost their focus such as sleepiness, boredom, and inability to keep up with the tasks due to many disctractions. Hence, in terms of understanding English learning, students feel much more comfortable in getting materials during offline classes. After students consider the advantages and disadvantages of using Microsoft Teams, in terms of understanding English learning materials, students feel much more comfortable getting materials during offline classes. Those results can be a suggestion for next researcher examine teachers' perceptions on how to optimize teaching and learning strategies via Microsoft Teams should be conducted to gain a broader and deeper understanding of the distance learning effect on system education.
