Keywords : Politeness Strategy, Responding Suggestion, Classroom Interaction This final project studied politeness strategy in responding suggestion in the classroom interaction: A case of the Eleventh Grade Of Senior High School MA Walisongo Kayen-Pati the Academic 2018/2019. The aims of this study were: (1) to identify the types of politeness strategies found in Students-Teacher interaction in English Class (2) to know the dominant type of politeness strategies found in students-teacher interaction in classroom (3) to know the reasons for the students to choose the politeness strategies in responding suggestion. This research used descriptive qualitative method. In this research, the research used record tehnique to collect the data. The data of the research were utterance in the form word, phrase, and sentences spoken by students-teacher interaction in English Class. After being collected, the data were organized and analyzed based on Brown and Levinson Theory. This study reveals some findings. Firstly, there are four types oo politeness strategies used by students-teacher interaction in English class. They are bald-on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off-record. Which is bald-on record with eleven utterances, positive politeness with eight utterances, negative politeness with twelve utterances, and off-record with one utterance. Secondly, the dominant types of politeness strategies found in students-teacher interaction in English class are bald on record with 11 uterances which has percentage 34%, positive politeness with 8 utterances which has percentage 25%, negative politeness with 12 utterances which has percentage 37%, and off-record with 1 utterance which has percentage 3% data. Thirdly, the reasons for the students to choose the politeness strategies in responding suggestion in students-teacher interaction in English class there are four reasons to responding suggestion depended on the writer?s interpretation. This research proposed two suggestions to English teacher and other researcher. The teacher should be inure to polish the students? English skill and the other researcher select more specific object to found all sub-strategies of politeness strategies.
